Meet Carmen Hendrix, PMHNP-C, FNP-C

Leading our psychiatric services is Carmen Hendrix, PMHNP-C, FNP-C, who brings a unique perspective to patient care as a dual board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric

Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

Before specializing in psychiatry, Carmen spent years practicing in emergency medicine. During that time, she witnessed firsthand how often mental health conditions brought patients to the emergency department—not because the emergency room was the best place for treatment, but because they had nowhere else to turn.

She cared for patients experiencing anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, substance use disorders, and other psychiatric crises, many of whom simply needed timely outpatient care and ongoing support. Those experiences reinforced the importance of expanding access to high-quality mental health services where patients can receive comprehensive care before reaching a crisis point.

Today, Carmen combines her medical background with psychiatric expertise to provide thoughtful, evidence-based treatment for conditions including:

• Major depressive disorder

• Anxiety disorders

• PTSD

• ADHD

• Panic disorder

• Mood disorders

While Carmen Hendrix is currently leading our psychiatric services, additional Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) will be joining our team soon, allowing us to expand appointment availability, reduce wait times, and continue providing exceptional care to more patients across the region.
